Camera and drone chimney inspections with a full photo report — before winter, before buying a home, or after a problem. FreshDuct checks the whole chimney and tells you plainly what’s safe and what isn’t.
Buying a home, or unsure of your chimney’s history? Start with an inspection.
Most chimney faults are out of sight — up the flue, at the cap and crown, or where the chimney meets the roof. A FreshDuct safety inspection checks all of it, using a flue camera and, for hard-to-reach roofs, a drone, so nothing is missed. You get a clear photo report and an honest priority list.
Inspections are worth booking before winter, when buying or selling a home with a fireplace, after a smoke or odour problem, or as part of regular maintenance. The inspection levels guide explains how deep an investigation different situations call for.
The point of an inspection isn’t to find work — it’s to give you facts. Sometimes the best result is “it’s fine, here are the photos.”
Noticing any of these? It is worth booking an inspection.

We assess the firebox, damper, smoke chamber, full flue, cap, crown and flashing — visually, with a camera up the flue, and with a drone where the roof is too steep or fragile to walk. Everything is photographed.
You finish with a plain-English report: what’s safe, what to watch, what needs attention and how urgently — with no obligation to have us do the work.
The right level of check for your situation:
An inspection pairs naturally with a sweep or annual maintenance visit, so you clean and check in one go.
Visual, flue camera and drone — the whole chimney, documented.
A safe, documented, end-to-end service — every job.
Visual, camera or drone inspection of the chimney and flue.
We pinpoint the real cause and explain it clearly.
Only what is needed, done properly and safely.
We confirm clearances, draw and a safe result.
Before & after photos so you see the result.
Site left clean, with honest advice.
An inspection turns an unknown into a known. Instead of hoping the chimney is fine, you have photos and a clear picture of its condition — so you can plan, budget and prioritise rather than react to a leak or smoke problem mid-winter.
It’s especially valuable before buying a home: a fireplace can hide creosote, cracks, an unlined flue or leaks that become your problem after settlement. An inspection gives you the facts while they still matter.
The cheapest quote rarely includes inspection, containment, photo proof or proper work.
| Standard | Rushed / cheap | FreshDuct |
|---|---|---|
| Inspection | Skipped or rushed | Visual, camera or drone |
| Mess control | Soot left in the room | Drop sheets + contained vacuum |
| Root cause | Symptom only | Diagnosed & explained |
| Workmanship | Patch-ups | Done properly, to standard |
| Proof | None | Before & after photo report |
A chimney is a system, and our inspection treats it as one. At the top we check the cap, crown and flashing — the parts that keep water out and the most common source of leaks. Down the flue we look for creosote, cracks, corrosion, blockages and whether the flue is lined and sound.
In the firebox we check the damper, the smoke chamber and the masonry, and we assess clearances and anything that affects how safely the fireplace vents. Because we photograph each part, you end up with a genuine record of the chimney’s condition rather than a verbal “looks okay”.
How deep we go depends on why you’re inspecting. A routine pre-winter check is more of a visual-and-camera overview; a pre-purchase or post-incident inspection warrants a closer look. Our inspection levels guide explains the difference so you only pay for what your situation needs.
Whatever we find, the report is plain and honest: what’s safe, what to keep an eye on, and what needs attention — with the photos to back it up. If everything’s sound, we’ll happily tell you so. There’s no obligation to book any work off the back of it.

Yes — a flue camera up the chimney and a drone for steep or hard-to-reach roofs, so nothing is missed, with clear photos.
Strongly worth it — a fireplace can hide costly faults. An inspection gives you the facts before you commit. See our buyer guide.
Usually 30 to 60 minutes depending on access and the checks needed. We walk you through the findings before leaving.
The cap, crown and flashing; the full flue and liner; and the firebox, damper and smoke chamber — all photographed.
Faults are often hidden until they cause smoke, a leak or a fire. An annual check confirms it’s safe and catches problems early.
