Air duct cleaning in Lara

Open country, open to dust

Lara, in the City of Greater Geelong, sits between Geelong and Melbourne with the You Yangs on the skyline. The older streets near the town centre are surrounded by newer estates that have grown steadily over the last two decades.

The country around Lara is open and dry, and the wind carries a lot of dust in summer. Homes with evaporative cooling draw that air straight through the ducts, and even homes with refrigerated systems pull it in through the return air.

In winter, ducted gas heating takes over. Whatever settled in the ducts over the dusty months is the first thing the heater pushes through the house.

Local homes

How Lara homes are usually ducted

Established town homes

Ducted gas heating with floor or ceiling outlets, often a long-serving system.

Estate homes on a slab

Ceiling outlets with flexible ducting in the roof, often with evaporative or refrigerated cooling.

Homes with two systems

Separate heating and cooling ducts sharing the roof space. Both carry dust and both need cleaning.

What we find

Three things we see a lot in Lara

1

Wind-blown summer dust

Dry, windy summers fill the air with fine dust that evaporative systems draw straight into the ducts.

2

Estate construction

New homes still going up nearby add building dust to the air for months.

3

Two systems, both overdue

Homes with separate heating and cooling ducts often have both overdue for a clean.

Quick self-check

Signs a Lara home is due for a duct clean

  • Fine dust blown in on a northerly Dry winds across the open country carry dust that the return air pulls inside.
  • Salt haze on the windows Breezes off Corio Bay bring moist, salty air, and some of it settles in outlets and filters.
  • A new estate home that still smells of plaster Building dust left in new ducting comes out when the system runs.
  • Upstairs rooms that are hard to heat Long runs to a second storey show blockages and sags first.

Repairs

Duct repair & replacement in Lara

Hot roof spaces are hard on flexible ducting, and runs get disturbed when solar panels and antennas go in. Split jackets, sagging runs and loose outlets are the usual problems.

We photograph any damage we find while cleaning, explain it and quote the repair before any work. Most problems are a single run, not the whole system.

Duct repair & replacement across Melbourne

Duct cleaning vs duct replacement: which do you need?

What we check and fix

  • Crushed, torn or disconnected ducts found and photographed
  • Repairs quoted before any work
  • Whole runs replaced only when they’re past saving
  • Outlet boots, grilles and return-air fittings refitted or replaced
Heating

Ducted heating cleaning before a Lara winter

Lara winters are cold and windy, and ducted gas heating runs most evenings. The heating ducts have usually sat unused all summer, collecting the dust the heater then blows through the house.

A clean before winter clears the outlets, ducts and filter. We can clean the cooling ducts at the same visit, before they’re closed up for the season.

Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Cannot find your answer? We pick up 7 days a week — straight answers, no pressure. 04 3191 8137
Do you travel to Lara?

Yes. Lara is on our Geelong run, along with Corio, Lovely Banks and the surrounding area. Pop your suburb in the form and we’ll confirm a day.

Does the wind off the bay affect the ducts?

It adds to the build-up. Moist, salty air and fine dust settle in the outlets and on the filter, and we clean them out.

Our estate home has ducted refrigerated cooling. Do you clean that?

Yes. We clean ducted refrigerated, evaporative and ducted gas systems, and quote each one upfront.

We’re in a new estate. Should we wait until building nearby finishes?

If major earthworks are still going on next door, waiting until they’re done gives you the longest benefit from the clean.

Can dirty ducts cause a musty smell?

Yes. Dust and debris in the ducts and on the return-air filter hold odours, and damp ducts can grow mould. A whole-system clean removes the build-up; if there’s a moisture problem behind it, we’ll show you.

How long does it take?

Typically 1.5 to 2 hours for a home, depending on the number of outlets and how much build-up there is.

When do I pay?

After the job is done and you’ve seen the before & after photos. Cash, card or bank transfer.

What if I’m not happy?

Tell us. If something isn’t right, we come back and re-clean — that’s our 100% satisfaction commitment.

Are your technicians insured and police-checked?

Yes. Police-checked technicians, NDIS Worker Screening checks, and full public liability and business insurance.
