Air duct cleaning in Malvern

Grand homes, careful work

Malvern, in the City of Stonnington, is one of Melbourne’s most established suburbs: wide streets of Victorian and Edwardian homes, interwar mansions and elegant art deco blocks of flats, close to Glenferrie Road and the shops of Armadale.

Period homes like these were built for open fires, not ducted heating. Where a system has been added, it’s usually under the floor with outlets set into the boards, sometimes with ceiling ducting in a later addition or a second storey.

Homes with fine timber floors, ornate ceilings and expensive joinery need tidy, careful work. We protect the floor around every outlet, keep the dust in our vacuum system and photograph the result.

How Malvern homes are usually ducted

Victorian & Edwardian homes

Floor outlets with ducting under the house. We clean each outlet and boot and check the runs we can reach.

Interwar mansions and large additions

A mix of floor and ceiling outlets, sometimes with separate systems for different wings or levels.

Art deco flats

Smaller systems with short runs, where the return-air filter is often the most neglected part.

What we find

Three things we see a lot in Malvern

1

Underfloor ducts in old homes

Ducting under raised timber floors can gather damp dust and occasionally show rodent damage.

2

Two systems, two wings

Larger homes often run separate systems for different parts of the house. Both need cleaning.

3

Fine finishes to protect

Polished boards and ornate ceilings mean careful work around every outlet, which is how we always do it.

Quick self-check

Signs a Malvern home is due for a duct clean

  • Fine dust on polished floors and furniture Dust that settles soon after cleaning is often being blown out of the floor ducts.
  • Grey fluff in the floor grilles Dust and lint gathering in floor outlets means the ducts below are carrying it too.
  • A musty smell from the floor vents Damp dust in underfloor ducts smells stale when the heating starts.
  • One wing or level colder than the rest A blocked or leaking run, or a second system that needs attention.

Repairs

Duct repair & replacement in Malvern

Underfloor ducting in period homes is crawled over by plumbers and electricians, exposed to damp and occasionally chewed by rodents. A cold room is often the first clue.

We photograph any damage while cleaning, explain it and quote the repair before we touch it. If a run only needs reconnecting, that’s all we’ll recommend.

Duct repair & replacement across Melbourne

Duct cleaning vs duct replacement: which do you need?

What we check and fix

  • Crushed, torn or disconnected ducts found and photographed
  • Repairs quoted before any work
  • Whole runs replaced only when they’re past saving
  • Outlet boots, grilles and return-air fittings refitted or replaced
Heating

Ducted heating cleaning before a Malvern winter

High ceilings and big rooms make period homes hard to heat, so ducted systems in Malvern run for long stretches in winter. The ducts carry whatever has settled in them into every room.

A clean before winter clears the outlets, runs and filters. If you have more than one system, we clean them all at the same visit.

What you get

A whole-system clean — not just the vent covers

  • Every outlet and grille cleaned
  • The full duct run cleaned
  • Return-air duct, grille & filter cleaned
  • Dust captured by negative-pressure vacuum collection
  • Optional sanitise & deodorise

Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Cannot find your answer? We pick up 7 days a week — straight answers, no pressure. 04 3191 8137
Our home has ornate ceilings and cornices. Will cleaning damage them?

No. We clean through the outlets and work carefully around decorative plaster, covering the area beneath each outlet as we go.

Our floor outlets have original metal grilles. Can they be cleaned?

Yes. We lift and clean original grilles along with the boots and runs beneath them, and point out any that are damaged.

Do you cover Armadale and Toorak?

Yes. Armadale, Toorak, Malvern East, Glen Iris and the rest of Stonnington are on our regular run.

Our home has two separate systems. Can you do both in one visit?

Yes. We clean and photograph each system and quote them separately upfront.

Do you clean evaporative and refrigerated cooling ducts too?

Yes. We clean ducted gas heating, evaporative cooling and refrigerated or reverse-cycle systems — the outlets, ductwork and return air — and quote each system upfront.

Can dirty ducts cause a musty smell?

Yes. Dust and debris in the ducts and on the return-air filter hold odours, and damp ducts can grow mould. A whole-system clean removes the build-up; if there’s a moisture problem behind it, we’ll show you.

When do I pay?

After the job is done and you’ve seen the before & after photos. Cash, card or bank transfer.

What if I’m not happy?

Tell us. If something isn’t right, we come back and re-clean — that’s our 100% satisfaction commitment.

Are your technicians insured and police-checked?

Yes. Police-checked technicians, NDIS Worker Screening checks, and full public liability and business insurance.
