Walkerville was one of the earliest areas settled outside the city grid, and the housing along and behind Walkerville Terrace reflects it — substantial bluestone and sandstone villas, some dating to the 1850s and 60s, alongside grand interwar homes, all set among mature trees on the flats beside the River Torrens.
