A service is a check-up with a clean, not a strip-down. The technician first runs the system and measures it: the temperature of the air entering the indoor unit against the air leaving it, the refrigerant pressures at the outdoor unit, and the current the compressor and fans draw. Those readings show whether it is doing its job, and give you a benchmark for next year.
Then the routine work: filters washed and dried, the coil face cleaned, the drain tray checked and the drain line flushed, and the louvres, remote and every mode tested. Outside, the coil is checked for salt and leaf litter, the fan for wobble and bearing noise, and the connections and isolator for heat marks or corrosion. You get the readings, photos and a plain list of anything that needs attention.
