Jindara Woodheating was established in the late 1980s and the brand was acquired by AF Gason Pty Ltd in 2001. The heaters are made in Australia, and the published range covers traditional flat and bay-window models alongside slim line and dual-door options. Those form factors are not just styling — they change the service job in ways worth explaining.
A bay-window door puts a large curved or multi-panel glass area directly in front of the fire. More glass means more surface for deposits to show on, more sealing perimeter to maintain, and more reliance on the airwash working properly across the whole face. A dual-door arrangement doubles the sealing perimeter again and adds a second latch and hinge set that has to close evenly for the appliance to stay airtight.
The bigger issue with a large firebox, though, is how people use it. A heater with real capacity invites the overnight load: pack it out at bedtime, close the air right down, and expect coals in the morning. It works, and it is a large part of why people buy a heater this size. It is also the burn pattern that produces the most flue deposit, because the fire spends six or eight hours smouldering below the temperature at which combustion is clean and the flue stays hot enough to shed what lands on it.
That deposit does not stay soft. Repeated overnight burning produces a hard, shiny glaze that a standard brush will not shift, and glaze is the deposit most associated with flue fires. What a large-capacity heater run hard through a Melbourne winter actually looks like inside.
Hard, shiny, tar-like glaze on the flue wall is the signature of long smouldering burns. It is not removable with a standard sweeping brush and it is the deposit most associated with flue fires. Where we find it we photograph it, explain how it formed, and quote a proper deep-clean method rather than brushing over it and calling the flue done.
A wide bay-window door only stays clear if the airwash sweeps the full width of the glass. Blackening concentrated at one end usually means a partly blocked air channel on that side, or a load stacked hard against the glass. We clear the channels and, where the pattern points to it, check that the door is closing evenly across its whole face.
Two doors mean two latches, two hinge sets and twice the rope perimeter. Over years of heat cycling one door commonly ends up sitting slightly proud of the other, which lets air in along a section of the seal. We check the closure across both doors and replace rope where it has flattened, hardened or pulled out of its channel.
Large fireboxes carry large baffle plates, and a large plate has more span to distort across when it is repeatedly heated hard. A sagging or shifted baffle changes the gas path through the heater and can push more heat and unburnt gas straight up the flue. It comes out on every service and we photograph it either way.
A big firebox will happily consume poor firewood, and unseasoned or resinous wood produces far more deposit than dry hardwood. On a heater that consumes this much fuel, fuel choice is the single biggest lever on how dirty the flue gets. We will tell you honestly what your deposit is telling us about what you have been burning.
FreshDuct recommends an annual sweep and service as a baseline. For a large heater loaded and shut down overnight through the whole season, we frequently recommend a mid-season check as well — based on what we find in the flue, not as a standing upsell.

What a hard-worked Jindara most often needs alongside a sweep.
It is not bad for the appliance so much as hard on the flue. Long, shut-down burns keep the fire and the flue below the temperature at which combustion is clean, so more tar condenses on the flue wall and hardens into glaze. If you burn overnight regularly, keep burning overnight if that is what the household needs, but service the flue accordingly.
Glaze is creosote that has repeatedly been heated and cooled until it has hardened into a shiny tar-like layer bonded to the flue wall. A sweeping brush slides over it. Removing it takes specific rotary tooling and considerably more time, which is why it is quoted separately from a standard sweep. Left in place, it is the deposit most associated with flue fires.

A wide bay-window glass needs the airwash channels clear across the full width, and a dual-door firebox needs both doors closing evenly against their rope. Uneven closure on one door is a common and easily missed cause of a heater that has become hard to control.

Sometimes, and we only recommend it when the flue tells us so. On a large heater burning overnight through a long cold season we quite often find enough deposit by mid-winter to justify a second visit. If your flue does not show that, we will say so and book you in for next year instead.
