Fujitsu lights blinking, or not starting?

Fujitsu air conditioner repairs in Melbourne: the fault found before anything is fixed

Is your Fujitsu blinking its lights, refusing to start, tripping the power after rain, rattling outside or giving up halfway through a hot spell? Our independent technicians test both halves of the system and confirm the part for your model. You get a quote to approve before any work starts.

When a Fujitsu needs more than a remote reset

Any one of these is worth a call. They rarely fix themselves.

Lights on the indoor unit blinking in a pattern, and nothing else happening
The safety switch dropping out after heavy rain or a wet night
A rattle, buzz or grinding noise from the outdoor unit
Fine in spring, but lukewarm or stopping on a scorching north-wind day
One head of a multi-split working while another sits dead
A system that will not start at all after a storm or a power cut

Blinking lights and communication faults

Many Fujitsu wall units report a fault by blinking the small lamps on the front panel, while ducted systems usually show it on the wall controller. The same pattern can come from a sensor, a wiring fault or a board, so we do not translate it over the phone. Count the blinks or take a short video, and send it with a photo of the model sticker when you book.

A fault we see often is a communication error between the indoor and outdoor units. The two halves talk over the interconnecting cable, and a loose or corroded terminal, a cable chewed by rodents in the wall cavity, or a board hit by a surge after a storm all stop them talking. The technician tests the cable and terminals before condemning any board.

Tripping power after a wet night

When the safety switch drops out the moment the outdoor unit starts, and especially after rain, moisture is the first suspect. Water finds its way into the outdoor isolator, a cracked terminal cover or a cable joint, and the safety switch does exactly what it should. A compressor or fan motor with a failing winding can trip it too, and so can a capacitor on its way out.

Reset the switch once. If it trips again, leave that circuit off and book us; resetting over and over on a wet electrical fault is not worth the risk. Our team includes licensed electricians as well as licensed refrigeration technicians, so the supply, isolator and wiring are tested alongside the system itself.

Hot spells, tight side passages and noise

A Fujitsu that cools happily through spring can fall over on the first scorching north-wind day of summer. The outdoor unit has to push the house’s heat into air that is already hot, and if it is squeezed into a narrow side passage between two townhouses, or boxed in behind a screen, it ends up breathing its own exhaust. Pressures climb, the protection cuts in, and it stops or blows lukewarm air. A dirty coil or a slow fan makes it worse.

Noise usually points to a part. A rattle is often a loose panel or a fan blade touching its guard. A grinding or squealing outdoor fan points to worn motor bearings. A loud hum with the fan not turning is often a failed capacitor. Ticking and creaking as the heating starts is normally just plastic expanding, and nothing to worry about. Our guide to split system noises covers more of them.

Multi-head, console and ducted Fujitsu systems

A Fujitsu multi-split runs several indoor heads from one outdoor unit. If every head stops, look at the outdoor unit first. If one head stops while the others keep running, the fault is usually in that head: its sensor, fan motor, board or its own run of interconnecting cable. Consoles add a low drain that blocks easily; ducted systems add a return air filter and wall controller.

A musty smell when the heating first goes on in autumn is rarely a fault. It is usually a dirty coil and barrel fan, and a split system clean in Melbourne sorts it out. If the system is short of refrigerant there is a leak somewhere, and our aircon regas service finds and repairs it before any recharge. For yearly upkeep, our Fujitsu split system service guide sets out what a service covers.

Independent, and straight about warranty and parts

FreshDuct is an independent business. We are not Fujitsu and we do not act for Fujitsu. If your system is still under its warranty, contact the manufacturer or your installer first, since warranty repairs go through them and outside work can affect a claim.

Parts differ between Fujitsu models and generations, so the technician confirms the part for your exact model before quoting. When a repair is the sensible answer, we say so. When the compressor has failed on an older system, or the part is no longer made, we tell you that too, before you spend anything. Another brand in the house? Our air conditioner repairs page covers the rest.

A split system is two boxes joined by two copper lines and a drain. The refrigerant in those lines moves heat rather than making it: out of the house in summer, into the house in winter. The drain carries the condensation the indoor unit collects outside.

What you actually get

What a Fujitsu repair visit covers

Every line below is part of the visit. Parts and repairs are quoted first, and nothing proceeds until you approve.

Included as standard

  • Lamp pattern or controller code recorded with the model number
  • Both units tested, including the interconnecting cable and terminals
  • Supply, isolator and capacitor tested for wet or failing parts
  • Outdoor fan, bearings and airflow around the unit checked
  • Refrigerant pressures checked by a licensed refrigeration technician when the symptoms call for it
  • Each head checked on its own on a multi-split system
  • Part confirmed for your model before you see a quote
  • A run test in heating and cooling once the repair is made

And the things we will not do

  • Pass ourselves off as Fujitsu, or work on a unit still under warranty without you checking first
  • Translate a blink pattern over the phone and order a part on a guess
  • Keep resetting a safety switch on a wet electrical fault
  • Begin a repair you have not approved
How it works

From blinking lights to a system that runs

1. Tell us the pattern

Count the blinks or photograph the controller, plus the model sticker.

2. Both halves tested

Electrics, cable, refrigerant and fans checked, and the cause shown to you.

3. Part confirmed, then quoted

The technician inspects and quotes before any work, and you approve first.

4. Repaired and run

Tested in heating and cooling. No call-out fee, and you pay after the job.

Fujitsu repair questions, answered plainly

Are you Fujitsu’s service team?

No. FreshDuct is an independent business, and our technicians are not Fujitsu staff. We repair Fujitsu systems that are out of warranty.

My Fujitsu is still under warranty. Can you fix it?

Please contact the manufacturer or the business that installed it first. Warranty repairs go through them, and outside work can affect a claim. If the warranty has ended or the claim is refused, we can help.

The lights on my Fujitsu are blinking. What does that mean?

It is the unit reporting a fault, but we do not interpret blink patterns over the phone, because one pattern can come from several parts. Count the blinks or take a short video, send it with the model sticker, and the technician confirms the cause on site.

Why does my Fujitsu trip the power when it rains?

Usually water has got into the outdoor isolator, a terminal cover or a cable joint. A failing motor winding or capacitor can do it too. Reset it once, and if it trips again leave it off and book a repair.

One head of my multi-split has stopped. Is the whole system faulty?

Not usually. If the other heads still run, the fault is normally in that head or its cable. If every head has stopped, the outdoor unit is the first place to look.

How much does a Fujitsu air conditioner repair cost?

It depends on the fault and the part. You approve the quote before any work starts. There is no call-out fee and you pay after the job.

Can you get parts for an older Fujitsu?

Often, but not for every model. The part is confirmed for your unit before you get a quote.
